Prof. Dr. Cemil Tascioğlu City Hospital Medical Oncology Clinic was established in 1980 as Turkey's 3rd Oncology Clinic. Evidence-based medical oncology practices are carried out in our center, which is one of the most experienced clinics in our country with the highest patient potential. One medical oncology associated professor, two medical oncology specialists, and 8 medical oncology minor assistants work in our unit. Our inpatient service has a capacity of 23 beds, and our chemotherapy unit has a total capacity of 45 seats. Chemotherapy is given to an average of 100 patients daily.
The interests of the oncology department at our center are lung cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, stomach cancer, pancreatic cancer, esophageal cancer, neuroendocrine tumors, soft tissue sarcomas, gynecologic cancer, bone tumors, head and neck tumors, brain tumors, skin cancer and melanoma treatment and are monitored. The treatment decisions of the patients are made in the 10 multidisciplinary tumor councils formed with the participation of the relevant departments. In the councils, diagnostic imaging, surgery, local and interventional procedures that may be required are planned and implemented in coordination with radiation oncology, surgical departments, pathology, radiology, interventional radiology and nuclear medicine departments.
Oral and/or intravenous chemotherapy, hormone therapies, targeted smart drugs and immunotherapies are used for the treatment of cancers. In recent years, the application of targeted therapies and immunotherapies, which have led to promising improvements in the success of oncological treatments, is possible by detailing the pathological, molecular and immunological diseases of the patient, and these treatments are applied in our center.
